About

Grace Qian is a Toronto-based artist working primarily in painting. She holds a BFA with honors from the School of Visual Arts, New York (2024), and is a recipient of the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Grant (2023). She was awarded a Monson Arts AiR Award in 2024 and a full fellowship from the Vermont Studio Center in 2025. Her practice explores the tension between a space’s assumed function and its lived reality, tracing how cultural beliefs and inherited habits shape movement and presence within domestic environments. Qian’s work is currently supported by the City of Toronto through Toronto Arts Council.
